Framing & Care
Framing is one of the most transformative steps in bringing an artwork to life - it adds a sense of luxury, permanence, and presence that elevates the work within your space. I encourage you not to overlook it.
All framing is custom and made to order. Please allow up to 4 weeks for this process.
Materials
All frames are crafted in Tasmanian Oak timber, adding warmth and character to any space.
If you've purchased a rolled canvas print, or you're an international collector who has received your original unframed, I recommend visiting your local framer for a conversation first. Framing is an art form in its own right and talking through the work in person allows your framer to understand both the piece and your space, so you can find the perfect approach together.
If you're an international collector and you'd like a quote to add framing to your unframed piece, please get in touch at info@carasanders.com.au
Rolled canvas prints include an additional 2" of canvas beyond the print edges, featuring a colour brought out, bordering of the artwork. This extra canvas is designed for your framer to wrap around the stretcher bars when stretching. Please let your framer know that the mirrored border should be folded to the back and not visible from the front.
Framing rolled canvas prints or originals: My personal preference is to stretch and float frame, where a small gap is left between the artwork and the frame - choosing between a blonde Oak or Walnut timber based on the tones of the piece.
For small unframed paper prints, I love the look of a matboard between the print and the frame, paired with a natural Oak or Walnut timber - it creates a beautiful, classic finish. For the large scale I prefer the print right to the edges of the timber frame with no matboard.
Care Tips
All prints and original artworks are created with premium materials, made to last. To keep your piece looking its best for years to come, please follow the care guidelines below.
- Keep all artworks out of direct sunlight.
- Avoid exposure to moisture. If contact with liquid occurs, gently dry immediately with a microfibre cloth.
- Avoid positioning in areas subject to frequent or significant changes in temperature.
- Avoid areas of high humidity or damp.
- Handle with care when moving or setting down your piece.
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry white cloth.
- Never use chemicals or water to clean your artwork. For a thorough clean, consult a specialist - improper cleaning can cause irreversible damage.
